An Exploration into Italian Folk Music - Saturday June 19th at 10am

During this presentation, young composer and musician Anthony Taddeo will guide us thru an exploration of Italy's diverse Folk Music and as recorded by Alan Lomax.
Anthony Taddeo has personally and professionally embarked on a musical adventure with his latest project, Alla Boara with the goal of showcasing the incredible diversity of Italy's folk music and history. Growing up in an Italian American home himself and being the first generation in my family to be born in America, he was never aware of Italian folk music’s wide diversity and strong musical identity until he discovered it as an adult listening to folklorist Alan Lomax’s recordings from 1954. These songs were much more eclectic and intriguing than any traditional Italian music he had heard before. The songs used instruments, lyrics and melodies that were deeply influenced by the surrounding countries and they dealt with the struggles and joy of everyday life.”
