ISTITUTO MONDO ITALIANO is launching FIRST AND ONLY BILINGUAL THEATER ACADEMY - ACCADEMIA DI TEATRO ITALIANO© for those who want to pursue both acting and eventually learn or master the Italian language in one amazing program.
NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE IS REQUIRED TO SIGN UP.
ADULT PROGRAM
The FULL program consists of THREE SEMESTERS - Winter, Spring and Fall 2017.
Winter semester: students will learn principles of theater acting and experimenting with several techniques and texts.
Spring semester, based on interest and abilities, the class will be divided in two groups: the one who will eventually perform in Italian and the one that will perform in English to accommodate the additional language requirements/practice.
Fall semester, the two groups will actively work on the staging of the play which will take place in December 2017.
PERFORMANCE: TWO NIGHTS - One in English and one in Italian.
COMMITMENT to the success of this program and 85% ATTENDANCE of all classes (remember 3 semesters!) is indeed required if you want to be cast in the play. Others who might join later will be assisting with the technical aspects.
CLASS SCHEDULE: (MUST take all three classes to be in the PLAY)
Winter Semester: Feb. 9th, 2017 - THURSDAYS @ 7pm-9pm (10 weeks)
Spring Semester: April 6th-June 8th- THURSDAYS @ 7pm-9pm

COST: One semester: $435 Two semesters: $850 All THREE SEMESTERS: $1,200 (BIGGEST SAVINGS)

Istituto Mondo Italiano is offering a 10-week course that will introduce children (age 8-13) to the fundamentals of acting. The course will be in English but based on interest, elements of the Italian language will be introduced.

Meet the Instructors
Renee Rabenold and Steve Gottschalk
Renee Rabenold and Steve Gottschalk are actors and improvisers in Pittsburgh who are excited about using theatre to help people develop themselves and explore their imaginations. Renee has a BFA in Acting from Point Park University and performs with long-running improv comedy group Irony City and in her creative duo When I'm Not A Person. Steve Gottschalk has training from UCB Training Center, Arcade Comedy Theater, and Steel City Improv Theater, and he has performed in the Pittsburgh New Works Festival. They have performed and led workshops with Penny Arcade Comedy, an interactive improv comedy show for kids. They produce and perform in Your Life the Musical, a Broadway-style musical made up on the spot with no script or rehearsal. Renee and Steve are delighted to have this opportunity with Mondo Italiano.

Viviana Altieri (Language coach)
Viviana Altieri is the Founder and Executive Director of Istituto Mondo Italiano. Viviana is not new to the stage, having worked at the early age of 17 with the great Italian movie director, Federico Fellini. Her passion for theater has led her to attend many workshops about Commedia dell'Arte, participate in a variety of small productions and teach at the University of Ankara (Turkey) a language program following the acclaimed Glottodrama method.
Last time Viviana was on stage was last Fall for a dramatic reading of "Lampedusa Beach" by Lina Prosa at the University of Pittsburgh. Viviana makes use of several theater techniques in helping adult and young students of the Italian language develop confidence and conversational skills. She is very excited to share her knowledge with the Pittsburgh audience.
